Bonsho or Buddhist bells date to around 600 CE and have deep spiritual significance in buddhist ceremonies. In modern times they are seen as symbols of peace. This bronze bell features a koi, a symbol of perseverance in adversity and strength of purpose. The koi swims amongst the lotus blooms representing spiritual rebirth.The kanji is the artists interpretation of divine destiny. The Torii a traditional gate design symbolically marks the transition from the profane to the sacred.
